Welcome!

What an epiphany moment! I just experienced what many of our students experience when they are writing. Where do I start? What should I write about? My fight or flight started to kick in! "Hi! My name is..." sounded inviting. Understandings and experiences like these are critical to becoming an effective writing teacher.
So who am I to talk about teaching writing?  I am simply a teacher on a mission. My goal? To better myself as a teacher and to share my journey with others in hopes of inspiring them to do the same. This journey started 10 years ago as a fresh-faced, energetic first year teacher with a print out of state standards, a teacher's edition textbook, an overhead projector, and not a clue. I was 21 trying to get 14 and 15 year old kids to write and enjoy it. I was "winging it" and like Icarus, I crashed and burned. Over the next several years, I taught high school and elementary school, and I became fascinated with how to teach writing.  I've invested a great deal of time attending workshops, reading other's work, creating and testing lessons, modifying those that failed, modifying those that succeeded, and collaborating and sharing with others.  Now I hope to collaborate and share with you!
I would love to share with you and learn from you! Let's jump on this writing train together and keep on chugging "Write on Down the Line".
